Classique Earl Grey - Tea Bags

Shipping Information
Size

This classic Earl Grey is a quintessentially English afternoon tea that is fragrant, smooth and light. A unique blend crafted from selected single estate handpicked large leaf Keemun, Darjeeling and Ceylon teas; and delicately flavoured with pure Calabrian bergamot oil. An indulgent tea traditionally served black, but also delicious served with a dash of milk.

Great Taste Gold Awards Winner 2016, 2019.

Ingredients

100% Organic: Large loose leaf black teas (Assam, Darjeeling, Ceylon and Keemun), Italian pure bergamot oil.

3.2g Large Pyramid Tea Bags, with sufficient tea for up to 2 good infusions. We designed this to simulate a loose leaf tea experience perfectly but in a convenient tea bag - for those days when you don't have the time for a pot of tea.

Fragrant with hints of sweet citrus tannins. This blend of Earl Grey is light, and we suggest it's enjoyed black with a slice of lemon, paying attention not to over-infuse the first cup.

Product Details

We created this as a slightly lighter than our Prince of Earl Grey blend with less China Keemun and higher proportions of Assam and Ceylon, without added vanilla or flowers - a good old-fashioned Earl Grey.

Did you know? Earl Grey is named after the British Prime Minister Charles, 2nd Earl Grey (1830-1834). Legend has it while on a diplomatic mission to China; a mandarin confided the recipe in gratitude for saving his son’s life. Another version has an Indian rajah’s son rescued from a tiger by one of Grey’s servants. More likely, bergamot oil was brought to England, and thence to Grey’s tea, by British naval officers stationed in Corfu. Fictional Earl Grey lovers include Jean-Luc Picard of Star Trek, Bruce Wayne (aka Batman), Frasier Crane and James Bond.
