There's no doubt about it. We LOVE tea!

The more we learn about tea and experiment with different varieties and delicious flavours combinations, the more the want to try new things - This is in fact the very reason why we started out in the tea business with Chateau Rouge.

From the health gains found in green tea , to the history of traditional English tea, there is no shortage of great information and extraordinary benefits with just a single cup of tea.

And if you are like us, you always want more.

So what are we craving right now? Rooibos!

In fact, more serious enthusiasts are discovering the benefits of rooibos tea. Beyond delicious, this drink offers a myriad of reasons to enjoy a cup.

Don't have any rooibos tea in your collection yet? We will tell you why you need to add this treat to your selection right now.

So here we go:

What is Rooibos Tea?

Rooibos is a tea bush typically found in the southern regions of Africa. Also called red tea, redbush tea, or bush tea, this organic beverage has been enjoyed for hundreds of years.

Dutch settlers in Africa used rooibos as an alternative to black tea. The drink has gained popularity around the world in recent years with a great bulk of the tea being exported to Europe for consumption.

Beyond a long history of delicious taste, rooibos has a number of health benefits too. It boosts immune health, in part, to its high concentration of Vitamin C.

High In Vitamin C

Rooibos tea has high concentrations of ascorbic acid, or Vitamin C. Vitamin C has seemingly endless benefits for promoting great health.  Vitamin C protects the cells in your body and helps to keep them healthy. It also maintains skin, bones, cartilage, bones, and blood vessels.

Great for healing wounds, this vitamin doesn't just keep you healthy, it also assists your body when it's on the mend.

No Caffeine

For some of us, our enjoyment of tea can be too much of a good thing. While brewed tea typically has less caffeine than coffee, we have been known to overindulge!

We love the taste but hate the side effects. And, as the longer we brew our tea, the more caffeine it has, we are constantly balancing rich flavour against our caffeine intake.

With red tea, you don't have to sacrifice rich, full taste any longer. There is nothing worse than having a flavourless tea that has more milk and sugar than the taste we are all hoping for.

Rooibos is naturally decaffeinated. So this tea has no caffeine to induce jitters, headaches, or withdrawal symptoms.

This is great news for all tea enthusiasts. Think about it: all of the benefits without any complications.

Even better is how healthy rooibos is for many facets of our health. It wards of the complications from disease, has valuable antioxidants, and assists in digestive health too.

Plus, after one sip, we want more. No caffeine makes red tea a must for amy tea lover.

Treats Diabetic Complications

If you or a loved one suffers from diabetes of diabetic complications, adding rooibos tea to a daily diet could have major benefits as well.

Scientific studies have also shown that the properties of the tea can  head off diabetic complications before they occur.

So Many Ways To Enjoy

If you love rooibos tea for the health benefits, you may enjoy its taste even more. With more antioxidants than green tea, this beverage will help your digestion and reduce headaches.

It's also delicious!  Red espresso is one of many variations of the drink that is made with all the flavour and none of the caffeine of traditional espresso.

One of our favourite parts of trying any new tea variety is experimenting with new recipes. You can prepare rooibos using an espresso machine for a late after dinner drink that accentuates flavour but won't keep your dinner guests up all night tossing and turning.

A Traditional Tea

Rooibos is also elegant as a traditional tea. You can enjoy its great flavour, plus, accentuate it with milk and sugar.

Served in place of your favourite black, organic, and green teas, you may find that the rooibos flavour and variety suits you more. Plus, red tea earns its name.

Plus, red tea earns its name. The colour is enough to accent any presentation during tea time. Whether you make it part of your morning ritual, afternoon tea, or serve it after a meal, rooibos tea is tasty and beautiful to look at.

Try It Iced

Like many other varieties of tea, rooibos tastes amazing as an iced beverage. You can experiment with different recipes and balance the concentration of the tea leaves against water, milk, sugar, and other ingredients.

Some enjoy trying honey in their tea while brewing or adding a healthy dash of fresh-squeezed lemon to the mix. Since rooibos has no caffeine, you don't have to worry about making a supercharged high-energy concoction when you add additional tea for flavour.

Indeed, what could be more relaxing than sipping delicious, non-caffeinated tea on a lazy summer day? Don't add anxiety to your holiday with a jolt of caffeine juice!

Rooibos does what all good tea promises. It helps you relax, accompanies your favourite activities, and accentuates your meals and leisure time. But unlike some more pretentious teas, it does this all in a very 'down to earth' comforting kind of way. You'll kick back and relax with every cup.
