This time of year is the perfect time for a spring clean – and your health often needs this as much as your home. We’ve rounded up some of our favourite Chateau Rouge finds for their health benefits – so you can help your health while enjoying fine food and drink.


Honey has many uses and is good for the body, both inside and out. It tastes great, too!

Did you know?

  1. Pure, raw honey, like our English Meadows Honey, is full of vitamins and minerals.
  2. Honey is full of flavonoids, which have been found to reduce some diseases such as cancer and heart disease.
  3. Honey can help soothe stomach issues.
  4. It has antibacterial and antifungal properties – it can be used to heal wounds and soothe skin irritation.
  5. Honey is soothing for coughs, colds and sore throats, and certain types of honey can speed up recovery time. Try a teaspoon of our honey with hot water and lemon, or better still, try it with some of our caffeine free Wildharvest Honeybush

Green Tea

    Most people are aware that green tea is good for them, but may not know why. Green tea has a lot going for it:

    Did you know?

    1. Green tea is full of polyphenols – powerful antioxidants that help protect your body.
    2. While green tea contains caffeine, it has been shown in studies that caffeine can help your concentration, memory and metabolism. However, green tea does not contain as much caffeine as coffee.
    3. Some green teas have antibacterial properties, too, to protect your mouth and gums.
    4. Green tea has been shown to lower blood sugar and even cholesterol in some studies.
    5. Some studies in Japan show that those who drink green tea enjoy a longer life expectancy.

    If you’re after a good quality green teas, there’s plenty of choice – we recommend the specially blended Butterfly Lovers or some fragrant Jasmine Green Tea.

    Rooibos and Honeybush

      Rooibos and other red herbal teas, such as Honeybush, have been used in Africa for many years for its medicinal properties, particularly helpful and soothing when you’re full of a cold or flu. Caffeine and tannin free, it is full of antioxidants and flavonoids to support your body.

      Here are just some of the reported health benefits of red leaf teas:

      1. They’re caffeine and tannin free – you can drink as much as you like, whenever you like. It’s a gentle herb, so is suitable for all ages and situations.
      2. Honeybush and Rooibos are full of antioxidants – good for protecting you against free radicals that can cause cancer and other illnesses.
      3. They have ingredients that can help you look after your bones, gastro-intestinal system, skin, and major organs against all manner of nasties…
      4. It can help give your metabolism a boost and improve liver function.
      5. Both Honeybush and Rooibos teas are good for sore throats, colds and coughs, as well as soothing asthma symptoms. Great on its own as a tea or with a little honey and lemon.
      6. They can soothe a sore stomach and aid digestion.
      7. These caffeine free drinks are a relaxing way to help you sleep if you drink it before bed. Honeybush is a sweet tasting drink and can make a great after-dinner sweet treat, too.
