Today is the national holiday of Australia marking the arrival of the first British settlers on the 26th of January 1788. It has become an opportunity for a celebration of all that is great about Australia and being Australian. For all of us cold in the northern hemisphere sipping hot cocoa today, we relish the opportunity of at one day soon enjoying a BBQ and a cold beer on the beach in January!
It's Burns Night tonight 25th January (and only 11 months to Christmas if you're counting!) and if you're like most of us, having been on a detox diet this January, today is the perfect occasion to beat the 'January blues' and have a night off to celebrate.
